  9. For all of you blaming women or men in general you need to realize that you're part of the problem. You are picking the wrong type of women or men. I had an abusive childhood and fell in love with the wrong people. There are good men and women out there. If you become mentally healthier you will pick healthier partners. Therapy helped me. Even if you want to be single having a healthier attitude towards half of the population will help you mentally.

  10. I don't care much about social status but I seem to be a born collector. I collected metal junk off the streets (to use in art projects). I am trying to declutter my life for mental health. I realize that each object I own (despite its worth) takes up mental space and is a burden as well as a joy. As I get older I want fewer burdens. I may never be a minimalist but I want to move in that direction.

  11. The Stoics have more in common with Buddhists than I would have thought. A certain amount of worrying must have benefited our ancestors in a different environment. But it easily gets out of hand.

  12.  @osenator  Crime was higher in the 70s. Look it up. Everyone did not get along better. Ask most minorities and they will tell you. Many women would not go back to those days. Maybe they were good for you especially as seen through the nostalgic eyes of youth. I grew up in the 80s. I have fond memories of some things but I can tell you that child abuse was much worse back then.

  13. I am mentally ill. I am a loser at any income level to many. What hurts more is I see myself as a loser for not "overcoming" my mental illness. I don't want wealth. I want self worth. Maybe that is as overrated as wealth.

  14. I am fine with being an individual and working on myself. But the quote about what doesn't kill you makes you stronger is often bullshit. Often an earlier blow weakens you for the kill.

  18. My friend's husband had schizophrenia. He followed his psychotic ideas. These involved drinking lots of alcohol in order to save various imaginary creatures. He died. Sometimes listening only to your own self leads to destruction and death. If you can weigh your own inner wisdom with the wisdom of others your life will be more balanced.

  27. Tesla accomplished a lot but Tesla was mentally ill and wasted some of his time being in love with a pigeon. I don't know if he is the best example. Einstein accomplished a lot while being married. It may depend more on time management skills. I think being single or being married is fine.

  30.  @osenator  Women could not safely walk in a park at 3 am back then! Are you tripping? I suspect you are forgetting the bad side of the 80s. So what do you really think is going to happen? Nuclear war or the New World Order? Or is there a conspiracy theory that combines both?
