  17. Not a dumb question at all. Our last 2 labs occasionally had their anal glands expressed by the vet, but they told us when it needed to happen when they would try and scoot their butt along the carpet. Bulldogs can’t do that or reach it at all. Our vet said some dogs express more than others. Reuben seems to be able to do it quite well as needed....unfortunately for our carpets. Doesn’t happen too often, though.
