From what I understand they also want to reduce defense spending, which make it kind of a contradiction in terms of Vance et al say Europeans must spend more on defense. But I think they say sh*t to draw attention, sound and fury signifying nothing.

I think the difference is rather that if they have work permits or not which maybe more is a matter of critics being to their employers. I find it unlikely that these construction workers, mechanics and so would be without work permits. The implication is rather that the local maga candidate who is running for office don't understand culture and conditions for business. She went out on her social media and proudly announced that she was the one who had reported to ice that there were trafficked foreigners that were living in miserable conditions and working like slaves...she probably heard it at some bar from someone who don't understand squat. These workers were there temporarily to build and install the manufacturing plant that is supposed to bring thousands of jobs to people in Georgia. As the workers were there temporarily they probably live a couple of people in rental properties as they have not brought their families. And South Korea have stable economy, social and political climate so they are not in the category that will be at risk for being trafficked and work in slaveline conditions in USA. They have higher GDP per capita and better access to higher education etc than UK. The local maga candidate and ICE leadership are absolute morons to not do checkups before they go out on such "reports" based on false rumours.

Nah. I heard Mrs Vance was booed in Rome by people who recognized her. Which is justified when she went on the PR trip to Greenland.

From a business stance it does make sense to provide support even if there sure are projects that could be improved in administration and efficiency. It provides a good will that are beneficial to US state and companies.

Yes, one can take Nike, a brand many know and own some items of. The average annual salary in Vietnam is about $7K while in USA it's about $44K. A pair of sneakers or some garment will either be considerably more expensive to make or wages in USA would be expected to drop. And there's some point that a increase in price would be that considerably less items are sold.

And the contradiction...if they express support AfD and want europeans spending more on defense.

It was a local maga candidate (running for some office) who called ICE on them. She bragged about it at social media. Claiming they were trafficked and lived under horrible conditions and being on slave wages. South Korea however has good living conditions and no political impressions so they are not the typical people who would end up such in USA. Maybe the workers who are there temporarily to build and do installations to the factory shared rental housing because they are there for a shorter time. Tabitha speaks politics (who live in Georgia) as some clips about it and the outright moronic speculations from the local maga candidate. And they are so excessive and kind of parading them. There seem to be somewhat unclear on what "papers" they had and of course how reliable the information from US authorities really is. They had search for four named to people (and came in such numbers?) and claim that some were on the visa waiver program which they can be 90 days for tourists or business but does not allow work as in employment. Normally these would be deported at the expense of USA but they could have sent them to South America or Africa why the embassy of South Korea wanted to take on to fly them home instead.

Interesting about the discussion about Bernie. Rogan was supporting Bernie before so I think what some of the disappointment (where probably among others also reflect in the number of non-voters) is with the democrats, if they think that "established democrats" undermined his campaign. I've seen similar comments about some democrats who are critical against Momani, that they're democrats to official label only but vote for typical republican views. On LIBERALS. Now, I am a European and "liberal" here is typical a center right view. Allowing you "to be who you are" (to some extent) but also promoting extensive deregulation. Which can be good but also allowing to those who do not wish to be "who they are" if they are dirt poor, having poor health, perhaps discriminated and/or being taken advantage of if lacking resources and means to adress various wrongdoings (like being screwed over in various contract situations). Doing away with various institutions that serve for check, control and prevention would be a liberal policy in a European perspective. For instance food safety standards and some instance to do random checks that these are followed, in the 19th century they could for instance mix plaster in the flour to make it heavier and whiter, then some more could be mixed in by the baker and of course people suffered and kids and other vulnerable probably died. The left in Europe would not be in favour of uncontrolled immigration to favour job opportunities that can't provide a sustainable salary. A liberal would suggest that housing regulations need to be laxed, if people can live in windowless basements with several families in a room then really low salaries are "affordable" and we all be happy and could by both a kebab with a soda and have our nails done for next to nothing. But also here in Europe there have been some emergence of populist/extremist parties (which is not necessary the same as smaller parties that have a few core issues). And it has typically been precedent by lowered voting numbers. Where I live (Sweden) they used to count blank ballots specifically (as a form of vote of disappointment) but now they are lumped with "invalid votes" (so when parties started to mimic eachothers' policies they can always declare the presumptive voter as "stupid" (by casting an invalid vote) or "lazy"(for not being arsed to go and register they cast a ballot). While in reality it is perhaps a lazy mess or stupidity among the dominating established parties that are preoccupied by fabricating "testballons" that look just like the opponents?

Because Pam Zombie is AG? I wouldn't be surprised if she helped de Santis steal billions that were supposed to be paid back to people who had been overcharged in Medicaid.

a recent interview with John Bolton give that Trump may not support Russia but he could favour Putin if he believe he is friends with Putin, probably similar with Nethanyahu and Israel. Some of the MAGA Christians like Charlie Kirk and those think they want to go back in time. And perhaps they think diaper Don being a mobster styled leader talking "tough" on a world stage going to get their way is such a delusion. I disagree with Bolton on a lot but I can think he is right on how Trump function (or rather dysfunction). Trumps belief that the monster style talk tough even wrecked his little hotel empires and casinos butt he think it will be working just fine to organisations as complex and larger scale as countries? His paranoia about "the deep state" is likely also doing it's part, if he think Pentagon betrayed him by not helping him at the Jan 6 riots he might perhaps strive to exchange the whole department, get rid of all staff with experience and expertise and replace them with loyal TV grifters and personal business acquaintances. But maybe it is a part of breaking up USA into a number of independent states, if they ran in with slashing huge chunks of federal government functions while the same federal government had commitments it will not be able to fulfill? Or does anyone else have an idea where they might be striving with this?Kirk & company's ideal of the 50s seem a bit off to what they do and how.

Incredible...the reporter questioned whether it was a wise move, not whether it was legally right. Leavitt's response suggest she maybe isn't "great" with nuance?

I wish some journalist should ask Bessent on how economies usually fare in nations with autocratic regimes.

They also have Eric Prince, a self styled crusader, involved in the dealings with the disappearances. Many may be too young to recall the guy but he was instrumental in chasing non-existing WMDs in Iraq circa two decades ago to the cost of a lot of resources and human suffering. There are articles at CNN and The Guardian about it (posting links at YT will get posts removed). I would not be surprised if the allegations of them being criminals comes from Prince's orbit and just as factual as the WMDs nobody ever found (and which UNs inspectors also said from the start). My guesstimate he will manage to influence a policy that create chaos today as well as he did 20 some years ago.

@GATYIM Some are in refugee camps because of us so brilliant white northerners failed geopolitics.

How utterly pathetic to try and suggest that people would think they never would die, when the issue is that they would die prematurely when care and assistance are being withdrawn.

Low birthrates in the west is a problem given the proportion of older people who should have pensionpayments relative to the size of the future workforce who should deliver in the money to it. But...USA has quite a shameful infant death rate related to the GDP per capita the nation has. In some states (republican of course) the infant death rate is almost five times higher than in Sweden, where the GDP per capita is about 67% of the US level. It does appear as if Robert Arnold is right when he said that a lot of these pro-lifers in reality is only birth fetischists because they don't care at all about those lives as soon as they are born. Now I am not a "baby person" in specific but infant deaths is a typical thing that is viewed when measuring how good a nation is doing.
