Some parents kill their kids by feeding them only (Mountain Dew) I live in Sweden, we don't have that many religious zealots (we discriminate because for instance Jehovas get their kids taken off their custody of the kids come in to emr and need blood transfusion) we have compulsory parental education by maternal care etc and regular checkup with the kids when they are born.
