  1. Without consciousness there is just material reality which is the ontological primitive. With consciousness, there is a material reality which is observed and also is altered due to conscous interactions with reality.. Material existence pre dated living organisms and consciousness, so consciousness is not the ontological primitive but just a by product of material reality.
