  3. If the USA jumps off the cliff it does not mean Russia should also jump off the cliff. I don't think Russia should find justification in copying the wrongdoings of the US empire, although it is certainly true also that the USA has no right to critice actions of other states that do the same wrong actions as USA did. It is however the case that Russia is justified in defending citizins in a neighbouring country (the citizins of Donbass) against military threats and actions from Ukrain army and military groups (Azov batalion) against citizins. It can rightfully claim it is using the responsiobility to protect (R2P), which was the same principle (but misused) the US used in Libya (protecting the rebel groups gainst Khadaffi forces in 2011), but which they turned into a regime change operation. But sure, the only way forwards would be peacefull negotiations and implementation of the Minsk agreements.
