Russia is not so stupid as going to invade Ukrain. The only circumstance imaginable russian troops will enter Ukrain is if Ukrain is retaking the eastern republics by force. Placing troops near the border is a warning sign to Ukrain/USA not to plan any adventure in Donbass. Russia does not want military agression but solution by diplomacy and upholding of the Minsk agreements (which Ikrain has been violating).

@positronikiss Sure, but their is a demand outside europe also, so Russia will be able to sell it elsewhere too. China gets Russian gas by pipeline, a second pipe line is being built, and other countries get LNG, Russia has arctic LNG terminals. I think it will be easier for Russia to sell the gas then for Europe to get the gas from elsewhere.

@wlad7192 Are you sure? Where does the gas come from then that goes to Ukrain, Switzerland? They have been playing a game on this gas issue, saying that there is a "reverse flow" of gas (gas that is transited to Slovakia and then re-imported from Slovakia, which is then labelled "european gas" - in reality Ukrain just siphoned off the gas, and paid Slovakia for the gas, and europe paid for the extra costs), and as of recent, gas from undergound german gas reserves where flowing to Poland and were directed to Ukrain. Where does Germany get this gas from? From Russia of course. So, nothing has been solved, really, just that they made it look like Ukrain now gets "european gas". And by-the-way, this german gas was bought at 1/5 or 1/7 the price of in which it was sold. Who is paying the price for this extra costs for Ukrain gas delveries? Europe does!

@benjiro8793 Russia has arctic LNG terminals, they can ship it anywhere around the world. India is becoming a new buyer. China is getting pipeline gas (power of Siberia) and a second pipeline is built.
