  1. TheFarmerfitz  Even if just a cable that runs all the way down - for example at all 4 corners of the building - it would not be too difficult to engineer some working solution for an escape system that can surive a calamity.

TheFarmerfitz  or instead of cables some kind of climbing robot that can climb up and down the exterior walls, can extinguish fires, rescue people ..... and clean the windows during normal operation..... anyway, maybe we should stop building skrycrapers as when hyperloop will be built, you could better built a horizontal escalator that gets you from city center to your office building 20 km away in less time then it needs to take an elevator to the top floor...

  3. Just wondering why the windowcleaning exterior system could not have been use to evacuate people from above the impact zone to below the impact zone so they could escape. But ppl. could not even enter the roof, the door was closed. All buildings should have evacuation systems that should still be functional even after a catastrophe like this. It would have been relatively easy to evacuate people using some exterior escape system had that been in place.
