@The_Brew_Dog Respectfully, I am not comparing their personas; I am saying they are both in the same powerless position with the DNC which will make sure the nomination only goes to the establishment candidate of their own choosing. Neither Bernie nor RFK Jr can do anything about the fact that the DNC is a private corporation accountable to absolutely no one - this was plainly revealed in the lawsuit following the 2016 primary rigging. I agree that RFK Jr has the courage and tenacity to withstand their scheming but he cannot realistically overcome the Super Delegates which are the power levers of the Democratic party. Those delegates, not the primary voters, chose the nominee. And the delegates are not people like you and me; they are Dem Senators and Representatives and other party insiders who are loyal to the establishment. The party has a long history of crowding out progressives or anyone who doesn't carry water for the establishment. They hated FDR and schemed against him the entire time he was in office. FDR wanted Henry Wallace, a progressive populist, as his VP candidate, and the DNC engineered a late night switcheroo behind closed doors to replace Wallace with Truman, who they knew was malleable.
It is precisely the fact that RFK Jr is a person of courage and his own conscience that makes him such a threat to the DNC and they will go to any lengths to stop him. You have to get past the idea that the people's votes have anything to do with who the nominee will be because that is just not how it works. It really is rigged.and in the 2016 lawsuit, the courts condoned the rigging based on the fact that the DNC, being a private corporation, can do as it pleases.
If, by " the democratic party of once upon a time" you are referring to the Kennedy years, we all long for that, but just realize that unbeknownst to JFK and RFK themselves, it was all a facade. The underbelly of the Democratic party was against them the whole time, just like they schemed against FDR and we know how things ended for JFK and RFK. Since JFK's assassination, no president has challenged the MIC or corporate power in general.
I agree that RFK Jr is the leader we need and we need him badly, which is why it's imperative to see the situation realistically and have the best strategy to win. The bottom line is that no one can reclaim the Democratic party; the DNC is private property, it's not available to the person with the most votes (that's just an illusion). RFK Jr needs to run as an independent to have a realistic chance. That is where hope lies.
