@Beeti1 Totally agree with you. ADOPT DON'T SHOP. Also, Vanessa said that there were no mats, so this grooming was completelty unnecessary and caused open mouth breathing which is a sign of severe distress with elevated heart rate. This had a bad effect on this cat's central nervous system. Very disappointed in Vanessa for doing this groom and posting it.

Combing, brushing is all that is needed to help long-haired cats and often not even that if they are healthy enough to self groom. The only areas where they can't groom themselves is behind their ears and the back of their neck. I am so disappointed in Vanessa in this video. There is no reason to put this cat through this. He was clearly terrified while in the drying booth to the point of showing significant signs of physical distress. My vet is a feline practioner and he says that there is no reason to bath a healthy cat. They are known for being excellent self groomers and putting them through an ordeal like this is sheer cruelty and totally unnecessary.

@MaineCoonMama18 The fact remains that this was entirely unncessary. This cat never should have been put in a situation where the open mouth breathing even started. Stopping at that point does not make it OK. My vet has over 40 years exoerience as a feline practioner and strongly advises against professionally grooming cats or bathing them at all, Cats are known for being meticulous self-groomers unless they are disabled. This cat had no mats. This was not needed. It's only purpose was clicks for this channel.

@pippadawg7037 She stopped only AFTER she traumatized him to the point of open mouth breath, which is a sign of elevated heart rate and extreme distess. It was all totally unnecessary

@Agniakachan I specifically said that my vet, who has over 40 years as a FELINE PRACTITIONER who has treated all types of cats does not approve of bathing cats UNLESS they are sick or disabled. Very few ever get to the point of being so ill that they stop grooming. I have had several long haired cats during my lifetime and even the two who eventually became ill were not matted because they did not move around much. My vet advised that the stress put on the cat by grooming them at that point would only add to their misery. To subject a cat to professional grooming throughout its healthy life because there is the unlikely possibility that it may, at some point be too ill or disabled to groom itself is simply not in the cat's best interest. Animals live in the moment. Their only concern is the here and now. They simply have no interest in planning for the future. There is no way they would understand the type of reasoning you are presenting or choose to go along with it. Leave the poor cats alone and let them do their own grooming.

@smr6141 My vet who has over 40 years as a FELINE PRACTIONER disagrees with you. Putting a cat in a situation that causes open mouth breathing IS cruel, regardless of whether she stopped or not. It is an involuntary sign of EXTREME distress with elevated heart. It never should have happened.

@lostinspace013 I totally agree. Cats are experts at taking care of themselves unless they are sick or disabled. This was unnecessary trauma for this sweet cat.

@elizabetharnold5849 The fact that grooming a cat on a video does not mean that it is necessary or correct. It's done to attract viewers, regardless of whether it is right or wrong.

@Astrohhh Well it is not you who was terrified to the point of if dangerously elevating your heart rate. It was a vulnerable animal who deserves more than just to be used for peoples' egos and entertainment.

@CherylSimser My vet, with over 40 years experience as a FELINE PRACTITIONER who has treated every tyoe of cat and cared for all of my long-haired cats is the one who educated me on this and he does not agree with you. That cat never should have been put in a situation that caused open mouith breathing. The fact that she quit does not make it OK. The cat was needlessly traumatized to the point of an involuntary sign of EXTREME distress. My own long haired cats did groom themselves and the only thing I ever had to help them with was brushing behind their ears wear they cannot self-groom. Regardless, Vanessa said this cat had no mats, so there was simply no need for this.

@Fawnkit Yes, my vet is amazing. He has over 40 years experience as a FELINE PRACTICTIONER. His schedule is full even though he has never advertisied and people travel long distances to bring their cats to him. He is the best vet I have ever had for my cats, by far. How do I know he does not approve of grooming cats? It is pretty simple: he said so.

@fireice2037 Well, my vet with over 40 years experience as a FELINE PRACTITIONER who treats every kind of cat disagrees with you. Open mouth breathing is a sign of EXTREME distress including elevated heart rate. Vanessa said he came in with no mats. I have owned several long haired cats and none of them required anything more than brushing, at the most and that was mostly behind their ears where they cannot groom themselves.
