She is not right or left, she is for the PEOPLE. I think the ideology that is ruining Oakland and SF is left ideology not progressivism. Saying someone is progressive is simply saying that person is for the people before corporations.

People who are focusing on Shanahan's wealth are failing to mention that she earned it overcoming incredible odds (she grew up poor and in very challenging family circumstances) by using her intelligence and competency to become a successful self-made entrepreneur in AI (she was already successful and wealthy when she met Brin). A person has to have good problem solving skills to become that successful. She sold her company and used the money for philanthropy to improve people's lives. If she can use some of it to help Kennedy win, that will improve people's lives too, but it is not the reason he chose her. She is the model of an American making it on their own and she has the expertise in AI to help Kennedy safeguard us from the nefarious ways it can be used to deprive us of our freedoms. She accomplished all this before age 40; that is exceptional.

Now he is peddling $60 Bibles to bail him out of his latest disaster; the Gideons GIVE them away. Everything he ever did was for his own benefit.
On the Dem side we have a senile president whose track record is being the Credit Card Senator for decades and authoring the crime bill that targeted black and brown people. His VP is the former CA AG who kept the pipeline of cheap labor flowing for the state's for-profit prison system and laughed about it.

The former was on the right and the later was on the left, but they were both for the PEOPLE. That is what is means to be a progressive.
