It's not always easy even for a younger cat to groom long fur; 16 years is really a challenge for self-grooming all that fur, especially with arthritis. Poor Mischa. Hope this made her feel better afterwards.

Wasn't ready for that announcement. Condolences.

He just died, this past Tuesday. How sad :(

@montanamadison galatea is correct. This was absolute cruelty, no matter what the new owners think. His former owner shortened his life and made his current life miserable. He can barely move! And I would be very surprised if he is not diabetic. There is no excuse for this.

@caskinfg Watching, aiding and abetting an animal slowing kill itself by chronically overeating instead of stopping it is cruel. This didn't happen overnight. The owners had plenty of time to help this cat before it got to this point. I have a neighbor who is a highly educated woman but she is grossly overweight and has had to have her own joints replaced because of it. Nonetheless she overfeeds all of her pets; three dogs and a cat. They are all obese and can hardly move. She has told me that her vet has scolded her about it and then she turns right around and tells me she puts whipped cream on their food and laughs about it. Call me an armchair psychologist but it's not hard to figure out that if she restricted her pet's food to good choices and reasonable portions and they lost weight as a result, it would be much harder for her to avoid looking honestly in the mirror and confronting her own obesity. She is not an evil person, but she is being cruel to her pets who depend on her to do what is best for them.

He died just this week. Poor kitty :(

I know, it was a shock to see that. Poor kitty; kidney disease is miserable.

What an incredibly sweet dog Scotty is. Great story. Thank you to all who donated and this is an important warning to all of us about the dangers of xylitol.

I wish I could pin this comment to the top. I think all animal breeding is cruelty as long as there are unwanted animals being put to sleep. If people would stop partronizing breeders they would have no incentive to add to the pet overpopulation. Thank you for sharing this information about Scottish Folds.

Watching this made me nervous for Vanessa's safety. This dog meant business and things could have gotten very ugly very quickly. I'm relieved that didn't happen, but I still wouldn't want to be in her shoes.

This reminds me of Hachi (Hachiko) the famous Japanese Akita who faithfully met his owner every day at the train station for years and stayed there waiting for him for nine years after his owner died. It's a wonderful movie starring Richard Gere. If you haven't already seen it, it's a must see.

Max had plenty to say :)

This is a beautiful cat who does not need to be put through a grooming session. I have had cats for decades and never bathed them. Brushing their coats and teeth, cleaning their ears and trimming their nails is all that is needed to keep them in top condition. My long-time vet was exclusively a feline practitioner and never bathed his own cats because the cats themselves are excellent self-groomers; fastidious about being clean. There is simply no need to put them through a bath unless the cat is too disabled to self-groom or has become matted from the owner's failure to brush.

Yes, I think you're spot on. I wear hats and my neighbor's dog reacts even though she is otherwise a sweet dog. Also, my sister has a dog who doesn't like people aiming a camera in his direction, Animals' survival depends on their observation skills, so they notice everything,

Clover is adorable! And really a good kitty :)

My vet says that most breeders only think they know what they are doing and that is why he refuses to work with any breeders. The best pets are the origiinals/mixed breeds; ADOPT DON'T SHOP.

@tobiascooper8800 As a matter of fact, I am :)

Um, george chickful, who appointed you referee of this channel? How about calming down and just rolling over like a good dog if you don't agree with someone instead of attacking?

It is just plain unethical to be breeding any kind of pet as long as the world is full of unwanted animals who are put to sleep simply because there are not enough homes to go around. To be breeding a dog that is known to have so many serious health issues is even worse. ADOPT DON'T SHOP

Irresponsible dog breeders are the reason my veterinarian turned to being exclusively a feline practitioner. He said it was just too depressing seeing so many dogs suffer and not be able to help them because their problems were bred into them by ignorant and careless breeders who are just in it to make a quick buck. Pet breeding should require licensure where the breeder has to be certified after completing training in genetic breeding.

I'm sorry, but this was just hilarious. I know the dog was not having fun but it was just too funny. He actually looked really pleased at the end, with his handsome new look :)

Beautiful, sweet cat. I hope she gets a wonderful home. I MUCH prefer to see rescue animals on this channel than pure breds or breeder stock. ADOPT DON'T SHOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The little girl: to Vanessa "Who gave you permission to do this to me????!" The little girl to her parents "I behaved perfectly for the groomer! Don't I look beautiful?!"

Oliver is SO cute! Glad he's home where he belongs, with his daddy :)

@LovelyLizy Exactly.

@pomegranatejuice5139 ADOPT DONT SHOP is about saving lives in every sense and that includes addressing the fact that in the USA alone, over 9,000 dogs PER DAY are put down because THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH HOMES TO GO AROUND. No responsible person breeds dogs or cats, or buys from breeders when so many unwanted pets already exist. Let me reiterate: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "ETHICAL BREEDER" AS LONG AS THERE IS AN OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM.

What a precious dog; absolutely a little doll! Now the owner needs to keep her brushed so her next visit will be shorter and less traumatic.
