  1. People with a PhD in education are more idealists than actually knowing reality. As one teacher told me, they could not get out of a classroom fast enough. So not surprised that your professor does not understand society and reality. I have a PhD in physical chemistry and I support Trump and feel he is a top 10 president of all time with direction the US and the world was on under his leadership. A more peaceful world and a strong economy. As for "free college". College is not an education, it is an investment. You don't need college to be educated on a topic. What college shows employers is that you are willing to invest in both time and money to achieve a long term goal. If you make it "free" you remove the investment part of it. You can find dumb people on both sides of the political aisle. I have seen it so many times on the left in the many times they contradict themselves and with their recent reaction towards Covid. There are dumb people on the right. Difference is that those on the right tend to want to leave people alone. Along with that, there are many intelligent people on the right.

  2. To add, with those who get doctorates they typically fall in one of two camps after their receive one, with a few exceptions. 1. Those that go to academics 2. Those that go into industry Those that go into academics end up being very knowledgeable in their field, but ignorant outside of it. I have seen that many times with a professor being brilliant in their field, but when they start giving opinions outside of it they are completely wrong. So with your professor I feel he is knowledgeable in the theory of education. But to make this claim of an "anti-intellectualism movement" is completely wrong. What is an intellectual to you? In the second group that goes to industry they are people like me. They have more knowledge in what goes on in the real world as they are exposed to it. There is also a reason why when you talk to these people they do not demand that others call them doctor. I never have my clients call me doctor. Professors do because of an ego thing. And yes, I have Ph.D in my business card and email signature, but I do not tell people to call me doctor as I know I am not better than anyone else.
