If Trump were to create a federal mask mandate and a federal lock down people on the left would have thrown down their masks and rallied in large crowds in the streets calling him a fascist. I feel where Trump failed was in fall of 2020 when many red states were allowing for fall sports to take place. Trump should have banned it. Doing that democrat governors would have opposed and would have pushed to start fall sports in 2020 in their states pressing charges on Trump. And then Trump two weeks later say he is not going to do it. That would have ended covid right there and then.

I feel the mistake Trump made was that come fall of 2020 when many red states were reopening schools and fall sports Trump should have used the department of education to shut down schools nationwide and fall sports. Democrat governors would have opposed and press charges on Trump saying schools need to be opened completely. Trump should have, 2 weeks later, removed the order. How would democrat governors respond? Shut down schools and falls sports?
