@rs72098 to answer your question on the suicides it is because they have a mental illness. Instead of receiving the proper mental healthcare they need they get surgery with the false impression that will make things better when it doesn't.

@alexvaraderey "If i need medical advice, i ask a Doctor." Here are your problems. One, doctors are human and can be wrong, and have been wrong many times. Next, as human they can be bias. Want a great recent example for both? Covid and Fauci. Also, you said "a doctor". Why not a team of doctors? Again, doctors have been wrong in the past and can have bias. This is not to say to seek out advice from someone who is not educated in the field. But you are clearly just blindly following someone with "credentials" making it your religion.

There are several reasons. Allowing men to play in women's sports. Allowing men in women's bathrooms and locker rooms. Also, it is to a degree catering to what is arguably a mental illness. Say you have a teenage girl who is 5'6" and weighs 80 pounds and is anorexic and wants liposuction because they feel they are obese. Do you give it to them? No, you get them the proper care. Or an alcoholic, do you just give them alcohol? No, you give them the care they need. Mental illness is a challenge and it can lead to the harm of other people. Most mass killers or those that do shootings have it.

It won't do anything. The judge is taking their time for the same reason the SC is taking their time in the immunity argument. What we are seeing is completely novel all around. We have not seen a case like this regarding a former president who is running again. There are questions on if he can have the documents. You also have the issue with Biden and so on. If the judge were to rush this it can lead to a mistrial in one way or another. Look at what is happening in NYC and how they are rushing that now without doing their homework. You have Stormy lying and in her testimony talking about what sex positions they did which has nothing to do with the case. Cohen is lying. There is now no evidence against Trump. That case is falling apart.

Gender is not a social construct. It amazes me how the left has gone so extreme they are rebounding on issues. You saying gender is a social construct is the same as saying women belong in the kitchen.

There are some differences. In your case you can argue about a person having a mental illness and needs help. Being an alcoholic is a mental illness, should you condone that person drinking heavily? I wouldn't. I will recommend they get the help they need. Playing a sport is way different.

No one lives in a vacuum. We are all connected. Also, mental illness can lead to the harm of others. That is what we are talking about here.

Here is a flaw in what you are saying. To start, there is no set agreement on gender affirming care. Some nations are banning it after trying it. It is a complex situation which is why it is being studied still to this day. Next, many of the studies out there most people do not have access to as most peer reviewed journals have a pay wall, or you need to either be a part of a university or organization to obtain it. And even if you do have access, most will not be able to understand it. People making claims like you are typically give a briefing on a study misrepresenting it or make vague claims without going into the details on any methods being done, the full conclusion, etc. Healthcare is always evolving and we know very little to begin with, especially mental health care. That is why we have more than 5 SSRIs for depression. And even at that there are questions if someone who is depressed needs an SSRI. The low standards you are presenting is a reason why suicide rates are still high in these cases, that even with care it is still high. You are oversimplifying a complex issue.

You are not even providing names so I can look at their methods. You are doing the same argument of "studies say" but provide none. Simply glancing, I found a response letter from Richard Armitage in The Lancet titled "Misrepresentations of evidence in “gender-affirming care is preventative care”" If you read the letter Richard gives his counter points to the article. That is science right there and that is why I say this has not been settled and why this issue is studied to this day. You are making this issue black and white when it is not. That is why you wrote the comment you did where I, as a scientist and with experience on complex issues like these understand this that there is no set conclusion.

@paulcoulter4068 to add, I am not saying one side or another. What I am saying is that this is still being studied for a reason. Any "health authority" making a strong conclusion like you are is anti science and I can easily dismiss. Again, going back to Richard's letter in The Lancet. He is not completely dismissing the original article. He is giving criticisms of it. There is a difference. I am not going to dismiss the idea that gender affirming care works as it is still being studied. My point is that there is still too much we do not know and the issue is complex. Remember, doctors have been wrong in the past. Just look at covid where someone like Fauci and the CDC supporting shutting down schools and never once considered it harming kids education. And years later people are like "gee, shutting down schools was not such a good idea after all". Well, maybe because you blindly listened to a "heath authority" without question thinking that it was really that simple.

We knew the death rate which was published in the NEJM. We also know that in education least resistant environment is best for student success. Also, schools were still being closed down even in fall of 2021 despite all the numbers being out. The reality is that we knew, people did not want to talk about it and just blindly follow the "health authorities'. Same here. You are making a claim that gender affirming care is necessary and you probably based that off of some opinion article you read. But as I showed you with Richard's letter in the Lancet it isn't that clear.

@deenman23 I will have to dig deeper. I believe it is just for minors. They are basing their decision on that they are not seeing improvements with gender affirming care as a whole.
