  2.  @NURREDIN  sigh......to start there is more to the economy than unemployment. Next, after the war the entire world was rebuilding where the US was not. Thus we had a global advantage economically as we were ahead. We can focus on moving forward as opposed to rebuilding. His social programs had nothing to do with it and in reality it can be argued it slowed down our progress and created long term issues (such as SS losing money and adding to our debt). After the war we also cut government spending a lot. Also during that time we restricted immigration.
