@thomaslunde5014 crime was not higher. As for job creation, Obama averaged around 2 million a year, Trump was around 2.2 million a year. You will most likely point to covid numbers but during that time the entire world was facing economic hardship beyond their control. Also, don't blame Trump for democrats prolonging covid restrictions where states like FL, TX and GA opened up early and saw their job numbers bounce back faster compared to states like NY, CA and MI.

@LeanneAnderson-e5c well, I posted a comment explaining it and it was removed. So I will try again. It isn't as simple as "US companies pay for it". There are many moving parts. You guys were supporting Harris who was talking about price gouging when I will simply ask "who is doing the price gouging?" With tariffs what you do is place them on certain products and US companies will have to shift to do more production here in the US. Or nations like China and Mexico will have to make adjustments and lower their prices or buy from us. Take cars, a big thing here with Trump. How many US made cars are sold in foreign nations? Not much compared to foreign made cars. And here in the US we have a lot of foreign made cars as well. US car sales overseas is declining. Basically cars are made overseas and sold here in the US as opposed to us making our own cars. This is similar to Trump's energy plan in his first term making us energy independent leading to low gas prices. It makes us rely less on foreign nations and more on us. It also challenges the foreign nations to give us a better deal. Do you really think this is simply going to be Trump creates a tariff and that is it? Well, you guys think that companies are price gouging.

That in over the next four years Trump's achievements will be so great even they can't deny it. Just like over time they had to admit Biden was not there mentally to serve a 2nd term. That wasn't his reasoning. His reasoning was that he developed a method to develop more cars and thus production was higher and thus he could pay more. I work for a scientific company that sells scientific consumables and instruments. Does the company pay me thinking I am going to buy a bunch of beakers or an x-ray? No.

You say blanket tariffs when that is not what is going to happen 2. Oil production is only at an all time high because other nations refuse to trade with us. OPEC said they were going to stop producing and Biden asked them to start producing oil again and OPEC simply laughed at Biden. Biden was going to visit the leader of Saudia Arabia and his response was to cancel the meeting when Biden was midflight. It pushed Biden to the point he had no choice but to produce in the US. Under Trump gas prices were lower according to FRED stats. We had Trump's immigration policy already, the economy was strong. I remember fast food restaurants needing to pay managers over $80,000 a year because they could not hire immigrants. Under Trump, according to the Atlanta Federal Reserve, wage growth for the bottom 1/4 wage earners was around 5%, it was 1% under Obama. Keeping these illegals out means higher wages for US citizens who are more productive anyways. Trump's tax cut was larger for the middle and lower class. And you complain about his cabinet being full of millionaires and billionaires, that has been the case for years. That is what Biden filled his cabinet with.

Under Trump gas prices were low, homeownership rate grew 5%. Wage growth was higher, especially for the lower 1/4 of wage earners. The numbers don't lie. I can break them down for you citing FRED and the Atlanta Federal Reserve. People voted for Trump because they remember that under him they could afford to buy things. They could live the American dream of owning a home. As for covid response, what did you want him to do? Every nation faced high unemployment and businesses being shut down. Here is the reality of covid. No matter what Trump did you guys would have criticized him for it. He created a travel ban from China and was called a racist. He introduced us to Fauci only for Fauci to stab Trump in the back. I explained to you how oil production is high. Biden had no choice. From day one he shut down the Keystone pipeline and made drilling on federal land more expensive. Trump knows what he is doing which is why his economy as so strong last time. It was so strong that the only way the global elites could beat him was to create the pandemic. According to FRED gas prices were lower compared to under Obama and under Biden. According to FRED labor participation rate grew where it was dropping years prior and even with that unemployment was low and according to the Atlanta Federal Reserve wage growth was over 3% under Trump where it was around 2% under Obama. But the big one in wage growth is that the bottom 1/4 wage earners saw a wage growth of around 5% under Trump where under Obama it was around 1%. So the lower wage earners were seeing the highest wage growth were under Obama it was low. The numbers were clear, people had money and could afford to pay bills and buy homes. That is why people voted for him now, they remember the days of being able to afford things.

@ErenYaegerPhilosophy actually the deficit was around normal levels in terms of percent of GDP. If you look up FRED stats of deficit in percent of GDP it was under 5% under Trump. Under Biden it has been over 5% as high as around 8%. Under Obama's first three years it was over 5% and only dropped because republicans took over the house and cut spending. Also, when Trump left office we were just getting over covid in which Biden expanded the covid insanity. You can't blame Trump because democrats were enjoying government shutdowns.

@AB-sem it is not a higher tax on the people but imported goods. In a global economy it becomes part of a negotiating tool. Also, there was a time where tariffs were taxes funding the federal government as there was no income tax.

@MultiBlackmind at this point you clearly do not know what FRED is which, not to be rude, makes your opinion not valid. FRED is the St Louis Federal Reserve. The provide many economic numbers. During my MBA studies I was taking an economic based course based mainly around the central banking system of the US and other nations. Our first assignment was to look up FRED stats and comment on them. Now to your point, Trump gave tax cuts to the middle and lower class. According to IRS data they saw a higher tax cuts compared to the upper class. Trump wanted to make them permanent but that required 60 votes in the Senate where every democrat voted against the middle and lower class tax cuts. According to FRED the upper class did not receive a tax cut until 2018 when it dropped from 39.7 percent to 37 percent which is still higher then it was under most of Obama's term when it was at 35 percent. And how did Trump let in the covid 19 "pandemic"? He created a travel ban on China and was called a racist. Democrats wanted a vaccine mandate while allowing illegals to come in untested and unvaccinated.

For policies, allowing for more drilling and fracking, the tax cuts, relaxing business regulations, reducing spending, limiting the role of the federal government. " And that is a blanket statement that is not true. Take the deficit. According to FRED the deficit under Trump was a percent of GDP is less than 5%. Under Obama's first three years it was over 5% and would have remained that way if republicans did not take over the house and slow down spending. Under Obama it was over 5% and at times around 8%. The deficit was higher under Obama and Biden compared to Trump. "That is why almost all red states have a deficit while almost all blue states have a surplus" That is also not true. Most states have to balance the budget to begin with. I am sorry but you are making things up with no citations. "Look at other countries recovering from the global economic crisis due to Covid, America had the strongest recovery thanks to Democrats, thanks to Biden" Our recovery was awful. Inflation was less than 2% when Biden took office, it grew to over 9%. Biden wanted a vaccine mandate leading to many retiring early hurting our workforce and productivity which we still have not recovered from yet. Our military is lacking troops as no one wants to work for Biden. Consumers are seeing it first hand which is why they voted for Trump. @AnnoDomini19XX you don't know the full story. Trump imposed tariffs on goods like solar cells and car parts and steel. China was the one that imposed tariffs on agriculture, not Trump making agriculture more expensive for China to import, so they imported less. We have been in a trade war with China for years before Trump. Trump knew what he was doing. China imposed a tariff on agriculture does not hurt the US as farming makes up around 1% of the overall workforce due to our technology. As is, there are few small farmers anymore, most agriculture is produced by large companies. Basically China's retaliation was similar to putting a tariff on VHS tapes, big deal. China imposed a tariff on an industry that was already getting bailed out and was transforming to being ran by large companies.

Manufacturing jobs were being created and the key thing about the economy was that people could afford to buy homes, food, pay their bills, gas was cheap, etc. You bring up economic growth which can be misleading. Ethiopia has a GDP growth of over 6%, is that a model you want to follow?
