If a state is not doing their job to alleviate a disaster they should not get relief. It is that simple.

True. They also had record snow fall in Tahoe recently. CA is to blame for this.

Climate has been changing for over 4 billion years your anti-science fool.

When a hurricane happens in FL or LA within a week they are back on their feet. They know hurricanes are a thing and are prepared for it. CA needs to prepare for fires.

@doggobork-bork5305 it really isn't. I was scheduled to go to FL on a customer training but held off booking my trip because of the hurricane. The day after the customer said it was good to come over. I live in TX. After our hurricane this year we immediately went to work cleaning things up, no complaints. No talk of "climate change". We are prepared. I have my hurricane kit in my apartment as is and was able to still cook food despite no power.

@doggobork-bork5305 I am talking about recently.

He already does. While LA burns California is holding meetings to make CA anti-Trump. When a CA official was approached about it he stuttered trying to give a BS answer.

@do9138 when Beryl hit TX I and others were without power for a few days. We were fine. We were prepared. I have an electric solar generator if needed, food, a gas burner, water, etc. You prepare for the area you live in. Just like those who live in Tahoe/Truckee area. They stock up on food and supplies before the winter knowing they could be snowed in for awhile and they have snow chains. Or the time I visited Alaska, almost everyone had a snow mobile and 4 wheel drive trucks.

@CharlieTWilbury who said they were incompetent?
1
@CharlieTWilbury the point of FEMA is to fill in the gaps the local community can't fill in extreme cases as long as the local community does their part. Southern states do their part when it comes to hurricanes. At times a cat 4 or 5 hurricane comes which is rare and extreme. After Beryl most of the south was able to clean up the mess themselves. With the CA fires they do nothing to alleviate them, that is the problem.
1
@Hhaze there is an argument to be made there. But as I said, those people are prepared. Also, in the end, if they get rid of FEMA, or have it heavily restricted I am OK with that. I know where I live and I am prepared. The people of CA should be as well. If FEMA exists it should only exist for extreme cases like if a once in a 100 year tsunami hits CA or FL, something you cannot plan. But overall I agree.
1
This is not politicizing anything. CA refuses to do their part to alleviate the fires, so why keep giving them money? Until they do their part cut them off.
1
Pakman is an idiot here. This isn't holding off aid to do some sort of unrelated law. This is telling CA to get their act together and take actions to alleviate these fires.

What is a climate denier?
