Clearly you know nothing about dogs. Some dogs simply cannot be trained. If a German shepherd were to maul a six year old how would you feel? You need to train it or put in in a position that fits their nature. A farm dog is there to work on the farm. By their nature they will not bond strongly to humans to be an indoor dog you take on walks. They live outdoors. If they cannot be trained you put it down. The alternative is putting it in a shelter where it will live out its life there in a cage, or keep being adopted and returned, or adopted and put down by someone else. Fun fact, this is how we treat many humans. We have a prison system for a reason.

@danielschaeffer1294 my point on mauling kids is that I bet you have a boundary to put a dog down. If a dog mauls a kid and can't be trained then you will take drastic actions. Your line is different mainly because of your different experience. Also, why can't you own a German Shepherd in your apartment? Because there are limits depending on the situation. You bring up Kim Jong Un, which I do not agree to the lie. But we have a current president that has made many lies. Lies such as being a truck driver, saying his uncle was eaten by cannibals, saying he met the person who create insulin, etc.

That is not true. What she did would be legal in Iowa.
1
She gave people a choice. That as opposed to forcing people to lose their jobs, their chance at an education, etc.
1
@krusher74 I have the free choice to cook in my apartment. That increases the chance of a fire that puts other tenants in harms way. You have the option to live like bubble boy and hide in the middle of nowhere away from the dangers of people. Or you accept life is full of dangers and live it. I have said many times I rather die from covid while enjoying life as opposed to living in fear. When it comes to covid you had the choice to live at home and hide.
1
@johnscaramis2515 sigh.....you don't get it. I do not care about the log term problems either. To me the chances were low and I would have rather enjoyed life as opposed to being scared. I have given it thought. I played football in high school. We were told the warnings and I still did it. I walked away with two lifelong knee injuries. I would still play football if I were to do it again. If you were scared you stay home, that is the reality. Life is full of risks.
1
@johnscaramis2515 also, ever thought of the long term problems from the covid lockdowns? Many businesses closed forever. Kids falling behind in their education. I ran into issues. I am a very active person and my life was stripped from me. Alcoholism runs in my family and I was able to take it on by being active. Due to the covid restrictions I was told to stay home and as a result I drank, a lot. Went to detox twice. I could have died. It set me back a few years in life. Were you concerned about that? Ever thought about that as an issue?
1
@johnscaramis2515 uh, there is always a chance I will die. I could have died today eating breakfast. I could have died today walking across the street. I looked at the risk of covid. It was basically non-zero to me. I had a greater chance of dying playing football when I was in high school and I took that risk. Again, if you are scared in life you hide.
1
Ok, so the dog mauls a young child trying to "protect" their owner. What will be your thoughts?
1
@terrysellers6712 I never said Biden's dog did. What I am saying that your excuse of a dog protecting an owner has limits. You are avoiding my question as you will have to admit there are limits.
1
Who is talking about Trump's supposed criminality? Jack Smith's case is going to be delayed until after the election. The Georgia case fell apart when Fani showed to be corrupt. The Mar-a-Largo case has not started and after what happened to Biden people stopped caring. And the one in New York was weak from day one.
1
Ok, now how many deaths did other states have due to increases in depression, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, etc. due to the lockdowns? Also, she gave people a choice. I would have rather died from covid doing what I enjoy doing as opposed to living in fear. If you were scared of life you hide.
1
She turned down those federal funds because the federal program is less efficient than the state one.
1
@geraldmclaughlin5709 if you administer federal funds you have to follow federal laws. That is the golden rule, those that has the gold makes the rules. It isn't just the federal government gives them money. It is that the federal government gives them money and then tells the state what to do, to follow their system.
1
@geraldmclaughlin5709 That is not true. Look at the laws that influence your life, traffic laws, K-12 education, roads, etc. They are ran and paid for locally. The federal government is there for two things, deal with foreign affairs and commerce between states. That is it. Everything else is left up to the state and local government. 92% funding for K-12 education is funded locally. States set up their standards, not the federal government. States do not have to accept federal funding and many don't.

People here are dumb and too sensitive when it comes to farm animals. Farm animals are there to work on the farm or be raised for food. You don't grow attached to them. If a farm animal is too dangerous you put it down. Heck, look at the SPCA, they sell working cats where they are meant to work outdoors and not be indoors. As a result many die in horrific ways due to the elements in nature. These are also animals who hardly bond to people, if at all. My first cat was a kitten from a farm and the only person she bonded to was me. To everyone else she hid if I was not around and if I was she would be very cautious for a long time. It is the same with this dog. Chances are they would never bond with a human and was untrainable and attacking chickens. Really no other option.
1
@playcloudpluspc I never said anything about Biden's dog. In his case if that dog is biting secret service it needs to be remove from the white house. There is a reason why many places ban pit bulls and german shepards. They are potential dangers. As for Noem, there was no other choice. 14 months is enough to know a dog cannot be trained. The only other option was to give it to the shelter where it will live there for their rest of their life, or constantly being adopted and returned, or being adopted and put down by someone else. The first two cases are cruel to the dog. I have no clue who Adam Kinzinger is but I come from a farming family and have seen a lot. What Noem did was normal.
1
@playcloudpluspc people freaking out about this reminds me of the same people coming to farms with blankets putting them on pigs to keep them warm. That is dumb.
1
@maizie9454 that is not always true. Also, this is not animal cruelty. What will be cruelty is sending the dog to the shelter and it living a life in the shelter or being adopted and then returned because it can't be trained. What happened to that dog is more common than you think.
1
@maizie9454 it is not linked.
1
That is the life on the farm. Many animals will die and in many ways in cruel ways due to nature.
1
We had four years of Trump already. How is he a dictator?
1
You don't kennel or leash a farm dog.
1
@DarrenSnider reminder that you laughed at people dying with covid.
1
@DarrenSnider you know my stance on covid. It was not that deadly to justify what we did.
1
@DarrenSnider but yes, you laughed at people dying with covid.
1
This is normal with farm animals.
1
That is true, but people criticizing Noem have no clue about farm animals. They hardly, if ever, bond to humans. And if they are not trainable to work on the farm you end up putting them down. That is the reality. Look up the SPCA that sell working cats. They say straight up they stay outdoors and hardly hang out with humans. Many live short lifespans and at times die horrific deaths. With farm dogs they are not your indoor dog you take on walks. What is her choice? Send it to the shelter so it can be adopted and eventually put down by someone else?
