However... look at the media. Especially social media. Their bread and butter is division and resentment between arbitrary groups. It would be absurd to suggest this isn't a major factor.

@blue24563 Of course I agree. Othering those different from ourselves is inherent in human behaviour. However, with this weakness in mind, I see this as justification to regard with extreme prejudice any organisation that amplifies the worst parts of our nature and weaponises them against us for their own profit. I rejected Twitter a long time ago after a fairly brief foray because very quickly I felt my mind becoming sick from it.
