  2.  @maida-vale  In a nutshell.... the Tories are not conservative. That's why it's important to distinguish the "Conservative Party" from someone with generally conservative (small c) views. The latter I would actually equate to what you call "radical" but in my opinion that means traditional conservatism. A conservative is supposed to, wait for it.... conserve tradition and social standards. Boris and his swamp full of toads have done nothing of the kind. Have a good one.

  3.  @maida-vale  Yes broadly. Although I do think a true conservative would be on the right if we use it's tried and tested meaning. From what I learned it was from the French revolution where those with more traditional monarchist sentiments sided on the king's right and those with more progressive views to the left. One more thing if I may nitpick... I think it is useful to distinguish between a "small c" conservative and a member of the Conservative Party, because presently the two seem to have little in common.
