There are lots of claims flying around about "energy from nothing", when in principle this is only true to the same extent as it is when we burn fossil fuels. Except of course, should the technology succeed, we would have an effectively inexhaustible resource to draw from. It's very interesting to learn more about it.

If you remove the electoral college, this boogey-man word "disenfranchisement" that has been forced down our throats for months will literally happen to tens of millions of people who live in lower population states where their votes would become entirely irrelevant. That sounds like a sure fire way to divide the nation even further and throw gas on the fire of growing secession movements.

  42. Actually they have been great up to now but this is kind of shocking. There's a reality here which is that Ukraine cannot win a war against Russia, but you can entirely understand Zelensky's frustration and desperation. There's nothing wrong with some respectful diplomacy even if you disagree with the guy. This was just unseemly.

  43.  @20dieux  The soldiers were not nazis. That was just the party governing Germany at the time. Those soldiers believed they were fighting for their country. They were just as brave and noble as those on the side of the allied forces. It's not the common soldier who declares the war, but he is the one who must die in it.

  44. If you keep up with events here in the UK at all, you'll know there is something of a revolt going on against the BBC currently. Their obnoxious public funding model and the obhorrent way they enforce it are under the most fierce attack they ever have been. It's good to hear a different perspective from someone who is close to the source.

  49. There's are multiple mass shootings every day although it's (relatively) rarely at a pop concert or a school. Overwhelmingly it's city gang violence. Which of course makes for inconvenient reporting and that's why you never hear about it other than on your little local station.
