If you keep up with events here in the UK at all, you'll know there is something of a revolt going on against the BBC currently. Their obnoxious public funding model and the obhorrent way they enforce it are under the most fierce attack they ever have been. It's good to hear a different perspective from someone who is close to the source.

Yeah I mean those figures are hilarious. In the UK, pretty much EVERYONE caught Omicron in the space of about 6 weeks... It's THAT contagious.

The western world is vaccinated against Omicron and Delta. So what?

So here in the UK we have had a MASSIVE spike in cases as Omicron raced through the population. It's many times as contagious as Delta and many times less deadly. Virtually everyone caught it since the beginning of December. And yet the deaths and hospital admissions showed a modest uptick and are now falling off a cliff. It's endemic here now since we have herd immunity. The vast majority of Brits have both vaccine and natural immunity from covid. And so our Prime Minister has announced all restrictions, mandates and "passport" checks to end in the next couple of months - in no small part because his job is on the line at the moment and he knows how widely unpopular the lockdowns and threat of vaccine passports have been here (contrary to what the mainstream channels will tell you). I'll be so bold as to say this is the ideal outcome.

You mean if those figures were in any way believable...

I don't care. Hypocrisy and cronyism are an inescapable aspect of politics. Ask yourself... while one hand is distracting us with juicy, sleazy scandals to get angry about, what is the other hand doing behind our backs?

@ZHRonaldo8 Doesn't make any difference. If it's a variant of Sars-Cov-2 we have immunity to it both from vaccines and naturally catching it. We are extremely unlikely to have the same amount of death again until a whole new virus comes along.
