@BaresarkSlayne It's so difficult to judge. If she really believed she was in her own apartment then ethically I don't see the difference to if she actually was in her own apartment. And she clearly did because the situation would not have happened had she realised her mistake sooner. But we can't just go accepting "Oops, my bad" as a defence because it's too easy. From the information we know it does seem that she was very quick to use her gun and as a police officer she should be professionally responsible for that side of things at all times - she is held to a higher standard than an ordinary civilian.

Imagine she walks into an apartment she thinks is hers and in that moment the disorientation and the shock, the fright of seeing a man in there. She's going to panic... he's going to panic... and the situation escalates FAST. It's very easy to be confused just for a moment even to the best of us if you consider it. There's no way on God's green Earth this is murder.

Isn't it in the intent? Imagine any shooter who kills someone in the genuine belief that they are defending themselves. Now later on they discover that they were terribly mistaken and they shot an innocent person. Is that murder? What's the difference if the person honestly feared for their life?
