I read Dr John's Wikipedia entry today and honestly it's disgusting. What a trash resource that organosation has become.

@Rab J yes in theory everyone can edit Wikipedia - that was the original principle. But now it's fairly well known that political content on the site is tightly gatekept by a small number of dedicated activists.

@RabJ208 As the most visited reference site on the internet, I'd argue that a whole lot of people, academic or not, take it quite seriously and take at face value the lies that are told about all manner of people. As for the "both sides" argument for Wikipedia... anyone remotely culturally aware can tell you the site is overwhelmingly policed by one particular side. I know of several content creators who are described in the most heinous and slanderous ways within the very first sentence of their bios. But I guarantee if I went in there and corrected them, it would be countered within minutes. Unfortunately I am not paid to do that all day, nor would my political position allow me to be so employed.
