Yeah I heard Peter Hitchens musing over this the other day. We've rolled over and allowed an increasingly authoritarian state to systematically curtail our basic freedoms in often brutal fashion over Covid... but when football is threatened, we rise up furiously as if the very lives of our children depend on it.
