  1. One of the points here is that you should never be in a situation of thinking she is "that one person". Maybe once you've been married 40 years you can be that old couple we all venerate and make the claim you found "the one", because hey you've kinda proved it by then, but not until that point.

  2. We should try not to confuse the term "humiliation" here. We immediately think it means to be shamed, embarrassed or made to look stupid or impotent. That's certainly part of it, but another reading is to simply shed one's ego and to be humble, without pride or conceit. Self humiliation in some cases, such as with religious faith, is a great virtue.
