  1. It's quite true. I live in a fairly rural part of the Midlands and I was on a work project in London a few months ago. Maybe it was just the area I stayed but honestly I may as well have been in Baghdad. Thousands of people around and I never heard anyone speaking English unless I spoke to them myself. To be fair I did not feel threatened at any point, but it was jarring to feel like a foreigner in the capital city of my country. I won't be going back to that city again unless I absolutely have to and for my next London project I'll double the quotation.

  2. The funny thing is if you pick any country where these people come from, I don't care whether it's Syria or The Congo or Pakistan.... Those countries have some breathtakingly beautiful landscapes where supposedly these people would feel entirely at home.
