I think it became clear long long ago that we can't rely on the people we vote for to do anything other than what serves themselves, and when we do, that person is crushed by the political immune system, supported and augmented by big tech and media. The responsibility is ours. The everyday person, acting on mass, could kill any big tech corporation stone dead overnight if they wanted to. If we all logged off Google, threw away our Samsung Galaxies and bought a "dumb-phone" today (while they are still available) Google would be a digital corpse tomorrow morning. Literally we could murder this company we hate by doing almost nothing. Yet here we are, enriching Google with the fat of our personal data even as we sit here complaining about it in this comment section.
