  1. 0.66% mortality rate. 80,000 deaths so far. In order to know this mortality rate I assume we already know the total confirmed cases to derive it from. Which gives us 12 million cases. Now below is the bit I'm not 100% sure I understand, so I appeal for clarification... WEF reports that up 60% of people have mild or no symptoms and don't realise they even have it, so that 12 million confirmed cases becomes 30 million cases overall. Which suggests that almost half the UK population have been infected over the last year. "Conspiracy theorists" saying we are well on the way to herd immunity aren't that far from the truth then? I invite someone with more knowledge to educate me.

  3. I think it's clear at this point that staffing issues are causing more problems for the NHS than Covid itself.

  4. Well the more people have Omicron I suppose the more people are properly immunised. I heard recently that one in five Brits were infected at one point with Omicron - the vast majority of them didn't even notice it. And despite continued scaremongering, people are cottoning on to the fact that Omicron is much milder than previous strains and I think increasingly people just aren't afraid of it. So to get to the original point, I think more people now are just losing interest in the measures, the mandates, the testing etc for that reason.
