I'm very glad to hear it. The British may have had a reminder if who they are over the last couple of weeks and those who would disrespect this will and must face the consequences.

Essentially the debate is whether its right to just vandalise any item of public property that you find undesirable. The Colston story implied that the answer to that question is yes. So now, if this man gets any sort of penalty this is basically an admission that our legal system operates on an idiological basis.

The average financially responsible customer is a nuisance to any bank.
11
I'm not that old (mid 40s) and have had a career in IT and tech. What I have found is the more I understand it all, the LESS I trust it.

It's impossible to bank with a clean conscience. It's like having three buckets of manure in front of you and asking do I want to put my hands in the horse manure, the cow manure or the pig manure?
7
That's the sacred cow that one simply cannot mention, or intimate the groups involved in any way. Look at Diane Abbott.
6
The money deposited doesn't even exist.
6
When your entire infrastructure depends on an IT system, what else could be the result?
6
I don't share Alex's view either, but unfortunately a precedent has been set with the whole Colston statue debacle. Unless we are going to start deciding law by the idiology of the defendant?
5
This is probably closer to the reason for his expulsion.
5
Cash...? What cash...? Your bank account is just an entry on a spreadsheet.
5
By immune I think you mean resilient.
5
Well if you don't take it, you can't get on a plane, you can't visit your loved ones at Christmas or on their death beds, and you can't get a job. But yeah, otherwise it's totally your choice.

I'm off to my town festival next week. Making sure I have all the essentials. Sun cream... cakes... a bit of change for the tombola... stab vest...

Recognising suspicious behaviour? Once upon a time this kind of thing did not happen more than once in a blue moon. How about we just reverse whatever it was that brought us here?
3
Bank staff? It's not the 1990s any more 🤣
3
Jesus... Every pensioner who lives on my street combined won't get that over the rest of their lives.
3
Perhaps the would welcome Dianne Abbott into their party with open arms 😂
3
Don't look back in anger, right?

Great advertisement for CBDC.

@tigs6639 I don't know why you bring up slavery. The Colston Four were acquitted of criminal damage, which I assume is the same charge this man will face. As for the comparison of outrage, I live in 2022, not 1722 and slavery is not a major concern in my life. However, degenerate ideologies being foisted upon my children certainly is.

UK population growth is projected by the ONS to be 95% immigration over the next decade. It's the only reason we need more houses.
2
It will be a minor embarrassment to them. Unless you have a mortgage or a big credit card debt you're more of a nuisance to them than an asset anyway.
2
I very often disagree with you Tim but today you are spot on.

When I walk through parts of London and I might as well be in Baghdad, the large majority of those people came here legally. It isn't just the dinghy divers we need to seriously reduce.

Cashless society means ^this^ every day.

This speech is rather shocking to hear. The penultimate thing I expected was a pledge from this government to reduce immigration. The last thing I expect is for them to actually do it.
1
Exactly. When I saw the report of their acquittal the first thing I though about was going down to my local high street with some black paint and covering up the LGBTQ++XYZ rainbow crossing that's there, because I find it offensive and surely its my right to do so.

The more of these people you allow into your country and allow to remain in your country, the higher the likelihood of this happening at any given event will be. It's a very simple fact.

@ghughesarch How many car rammings at Christmas parades were there 20+ years ago in Europe? How often did you see the "bollards of peace" installed back then? So what changed? Don't tell me it's because of Brexit (Fun fact: Brexit is not entirely without it's effect).
1
@davidboult4143 If our loved ones being un-alived at Christmas parades and children's music concerts is not the time for anger then I don't know when is.
1
Yes where is this extra day of leisure spending going to come from if everyone has taken a 20% pay cut? Unless they are going to pay you the same for less work. Yeah right 🤣
1
Trouble is, if you allow crime stats to govern how you do stop and search, it can't help but look racist.
1
Convert it all into Amazon vouchers? 😉
1
I'm self employed and as long as the government don't attempt to force this on me then I don't care really.
1
Two parties, both of whom I despise, with with the greatest of respect and affection Tim don't talk to me about tribal differences. My tribe are the English.

@ Oh I agree but what I mean is if your whole system runs on the internet then when the internet goes down then you have short term chaos. Nobody has lost their money, but a total outage like this even for a short time could be catastrophic. I think we agree though. As you say at the end, there must be a contingency if your digital service goes out. Such as high street branches... 🤔
