When the British were sailing around the world trying to convince African kings to stop slavery, many of them refused, pointing out that their economies would collapse if they didn't have a slave trade.

  49. But what do you change? The cop was following the procedure to the letter that the PD had trained him in. Likely hundreds of people a day who resist arrest are subdued in this way without incident. Do you take away that option to take a suspect to the ground and leave the cop with only his gun? I mean if I get pulled over by the cops, I co-operate... If I'm caught in the wrong then god-damnit I'm caught. I get in the cruiser without incident or resistance and I can guarantee my safety as a result. Sure I'm not black, but perhaps as a result of that I haven't been fed a fairytale horror story since I was a kid by the media that the Police want to murder me... so I'm not primed to fight for my life as soon as an officer taps on the window.
