I think the race baiting was already getting to such an insane level back then that a brainwashed liberal black person with activist tendencies would be likely to take advantage of it for personal gain. The media created this monster and many like it unfortunately and we should be directing a lot of our blame at them. Smollett was entirely cynical... he knew full well the media would be absolutely on his side regardless the evidence. Now, while "irredeemable" is a tall claim for all but the most heinous crimes, I do think the sentence should be the same as it would have been for the hypothetical white supremacists if they had actually done this. And of course if they even existed.

  25. We know that crew members were using the gun for casual target practice, so prop or not, it was a fully functioning weapon. If I were in the shoes of a director I'd be calling a dead stop to all production until we had turned the whole place upside down to find every last live round within a mile of the set. Then each gun thoroughly inspected and tested. I mean WTF? Is this just an old fashioned straight-white-man way of doing things?

  29. I've been fairly charitable for TROP so far, but Episode 4 really annoyed me. By far the best thing about it is the scenes between Elrond and Durin. As long as Durin's bloody wife isn't on screen. Oh and the environments are absolutely breathtaking. But Galadriel is really pissing me off. She's like a surly teenager and like Jeremy said just embarassingly OP like a typical wahmen superhero written by a feminist - so boring and predictable. The love affair between the black elf and the human woman (I don't care what their names are) is really cringe and awkward. Mercifully in Ep 4 we didn't have to endure the proto hobbits (again I neither remember nor care what they are called). Norri is cute but that's about it for them. I tried to give it 3/5 on Amazon Prime but it wouldn't even let me do that.

  50. If we're looking on the bright side, it's not uncommon for a TV show to modify characters' behaviour after the first season. I always remember STTNG having a shaky start as characters found their feet - and the US version of The Office started off with a very different Michael Scott than the one we grew to know and love. I really want to like this show because it does have some redeeming features. I hope that someone with some sense can perform emergency surgery on the casting and script.
