I feel like the golden age of the internet in general is over. AI is going to ruin everything and make it so you can't trust a thing you see. So I predict in many areas we will have no choice but to revert to old fashioned real world ways of doing things. I've noticed an increase in posters around my town advertising singles nights, dancing clubs and stuff like that.

@DreamyJuly17 When you think about it, what's so great about literacy? Are we happier or more at peace with our lives than they were? Are we really better off knowing all the stuff we do?

Once you are a parent, you don't care about free time. Your child is like a beating organ in your body, except there they are, all pink and vulnerable in the outside world and your every waking moment is consumed with his or her wellbeing. You will love them more than free time. More than money. More than your very own life. It's not possible to fully convey this reality to someone who is not a parent.

Why not adopt? Then you could give an already born child a much better life than they already have.

The vast majority of your ancestors lived in poverty and all of them had as many kids as they possibly could. They understood that was what gave their lives meaning.

Except for... oh I don't know... every single one of your ancestors.

And the advertisement I get halfway through this video.... Is for some pickup game scheme... 🤦♂

I think it's an indication of our materialism that for the first time in history people are making the decision whether to have kids or not based on their finances.

@turtal2595 Actually I never thought of it like that. Our ancestors were so keen to have children, they did so even though they knew they'd probably die.

@masterblaster2678 Informed about what? Stuff that you can't do a damn thing about and on which your knowledge or ignorance makes no difference at all? If you're shunning parenthood then you are effectively recusing yourself from any influence on the future, so what difference does it make what you know? Are you environmentally conscious? Do you vote with that in mind? Why bother? If you live life for yourself then all you need to care about is the next few decades until you die, right?

It's not your lack of money that makes you anti-natal. It's your lack of meaning.

I would almost support a government run dating app, because the tragedy of all this is that profit motivation will completely ruin the user experience every single time.
