That makes sense.

"Every tech news outlet is ignoring this story" Yes... Because THEY'RE ALL DOING IT.

The internet is digitised democracy. Which is to say we think we have choice but in fact all the options are carefully curated to lead us down a certain path... and away from others.

I've always been skeptical that amount of ram is needed.

Well it clearly facilitated harm to the profits of one of Google's main advertisers.

From where? Online stores that will eventually ban them because they can't censor physical media?

Goes a long way to explaining the competency crisis.

After they realised that it really doesn't matter that everyone knows your content is soulless mass produced garbage...People will still consume it.

I used to work at IBM years ago and now I'm sorry I quit. I could have been racially discriminated against and they would be paying for my early retirement now :(

If you've ever seen Equilibrium I think that's quite prescient. In that world, all culture, art, music has been banned because it tends to make people less conformist. I can quite easily see a future where physical media like books are contraband or at the very least made to be taboo. Sounds crazy right? That is until you remember that right now it's taboo to say that women don't have meat and two veg.

Early internet is often compared to the "wild west" and I think that's a good analogy. The real old world wild west was exciting, dangerous and full of freedom and possibilities. But inevitably is was subsumed by state control and now you can't even fart in the most remote backwater of the US without immediately being taxed up the ass for it.

I'm pretty sure Google was set up as a CIA and NSA project wasn't it? This is common knowledge.

Every question has a solution.

Expect to see the wayback machine under increasing attack in the coming years. Nothing will be tolerated that offers an alternative view of history outside the current narrative. The never ending present to paraphrase Orwell.

All the useful stuff is still there on the internet. It's just that AI generated gibberish will eventually put weight it by infinity to one.

In the Anglosphere we just say "The left always project".

Am I still allowed to ask the pump attendant to give me some gas?
1
YES. I've been thinking this for a while. Before long the internet will become unusable. AI is going to be able to break security for one thing and nothing will be trustworthy... Not the news, not your bank, not that phone call your kid got from you asking them to meet you at a certain place 😳 I can see a future in which we a re simply forced to revert back to real world ways of doing stuff because the internet is no longer fit for purpose.
