  1. A dog and a chimp are conscious. Perhaps "self conscience" is a better term to distinguish them from humans. Dogs and chimps do not appear to be conscious of their own consciousness as humans are. They have all the emotions, instincts and many of the problem solving abilities humans have, but they do not reflect on that fact.
