  1. Russia is stepping up its accusations against Ukrainian soldiers for killing civilians in the western Russian region of Kursk. The investigative committee said on Friday that it was now investigating the killing of "22 residents" of the village of Russkoye Porechnoye between September and November 2024. The victims were found in several basements, including eight women who had been raped before their murder. Investigators accused five Ukrainian soldiers of murder and said one of them had been detained during fighting in the Kursk region. The committee published a video of the interrogation and confession of a man who is said to be the accused. The AFP news agency was initially unable to verify the information. Ukraine did not initially respond to an inquiry.
