Given cars are used literally every day by millions upon millions of people for hours a day, and almost all vehicle deaths are accidents, while guns are used rarely and deaths are usually homicides and suicides, using this metric is incredibly forgiving to guns.

@joshuaoverlord5327 I love that you think that's a small number, and you might want to check the homicide numbers before claiming 2/3 are suicides. The US is a very dangerous developed nation. No other developed nations have the same violence issues. It should also be noted that while the US has a lot of guns, overall firearm ownership rates are under 50%.

@joshuaoverlord5327 Wrong again. Plenty of course tries have high firearm ownership rates, they just know how to use them. No, homicide stats do not include cops lawfully shooting people (although the fact you think that's a legitimate point is actually sad). Yes, homicides include people shooting people, that was my point.

@joshuaoverlord5327 No it doesn't. US homicide rates only include unlawful homicides, ie murders and nonnegligent manslaughters. They do not include cops killing people. But again, why do you think excusing cops killing people is a good argument?
