@thomasMcMaster2241 Lets just start out by helping you understand that those caught and processed at the border are not illegal, they are asylum seekers, which are by definition are not illegal. Asylum seekers' entry requirements are different as their situation is different. They travel to the US due to a humanitarian need, and potentially denying them entry could send them to their deaths. This is not the same as losing your job.

You can disagree with the decision if you want, but asylum seekers are facing life and death, and hinging their lives on a vaccine is unethical. If you weigh the risk vs reward, more will die than be saved if you require vaccinations for asylum seekers. The same is not true for federal workers. If you don't understand something so simple then why are you even commenting?

The hospitals were overcrowded near me, and when I had to go to the ER for something else I had to be seen in the waiting room, as even the hallways were crowded with patients. The federal government had to send emergency supplies just to cover us and delta was killing hundreds per day, with deaths increasing by 23K throughout the delta surge. Florida performed horribly. THAT is the cause and effect.

You can mix and match the doses, but they tend to work better if you don't do to spike protein load difference in the second doses of each vaccine.

@treeherder2201 Just because it isn't perfect doesn't mean it does nothing. It has a 95% efficacy. That means for every vaccinated person that gets covid, 20 unvaccinated people do. Not there is waning over time as well, but at the end of the day these vaccines have been shown to sharply reduce spread and deaths.

@josflorida5346 If you read the full report the main reasons for that are lockdown severity and vaccinated travel routes. This means that if they locked down again the resilience would improve. They are also not requiring vaccinated people when entering the country, but this does ignore the severity of usual entry into the nation. Their vaccination rate is higher, and 1 lockdown could put them at number 1 in no time. Maybe read the background of a report you post before jacking yourself off.

@josflorida5346 Flatten the curve, which we did. Then it surged again and we needed another lockdown. In places we didn't do that people died at a higher rate and hospitals become overwhelmed. Flattening the curve isn't to end the pandemic, it is to delay it so that we have the capacity to deal with it over a longer period of time. Your failure to understand even the most fundamental thing is why you lost here, but still think you won. The resilience report is nothing to do with being ahead or behind, it's to do with how quickly the virus would spread if it hit there. In terms of overall pandemic performs they are worlds ahead, with 879 deaths per million, almost 3 times better than the US.

Trump had nothing to do with the NIH and the FDA accelerating research and development by removing red tape. Positive tests are also handled differently depending on the area, but it can range from hotel stays to tented quarantine camps. Your family should really pull their finger out and see what's actually happening around them rather than putting their head in the sand. @derekwang7330 Different circumstance. Asylum seekers cross due to a direct humanitarian need. Since they cross to apply for help the only way to vaccinate them would be either to force them, or to deny humanitarian asylum based on vaccination status. When weighing the good vs the bad on things like this countries tend to air on the side of human rights. Legal immigrants don't have that same dilemma.

@derekwang7330 Illegal immigrants who cross the border ARE asylum seekers according to current US law. Asylum seekers are exempt because the threat to their lives is too great to refuse people based on vaccination status. Standard immigration is from people who don't need this specific prevision because they are able to get vaccinated and entry into the US is not life or death. Denying asylum seekers would be unhumanitarian.
