@GarlandTX2Israel Biden can't sign it until it passes the house and the senate.

It also covers unemployment, SNAP benefits, small business loans, rental assistance, mortgage assistance, vaccine distributions and a whole host of other services that would not be covered by just giving people checks.

hank hill The bridges and tunnels were removed from the funding. The Bridge funding you are referring to is the NY bridge to Canada that needs funding for maintenance. Considering this bridge is a border and the funding was originally proposed by the Trump admin I'm not sure why you would be against it. The tunnel funding you are referring to was the $100m proposed for the silicon valley highspeed rail extension. The extension was fully funded about a month ago when the local government sold bonds to cover the cost. Highspeed rail is also a massive investment, but whatever. Neither of these made it in the final bill. Even if they had made it in the final bill they would cost less that one hundredth of one percent of the total spending. That's <0.01% of the bill. The education funding was around $168 billion, and was to be used to both fund schools during a time of lost tax revenue, and help them secure themselves for reopening during covid. If you think educating people makes them communist then what does that make anti-communists?

hank hill "Six tent sites dubbed “safe sleeping villages” have been set up since the start of the coronavirus pandemic to shelter people who might otherwise sleep on the sidewalks." "The villages also provide access to bathrooms, meals and 24-hour security" " the average cost per night is less than what the city pays under a program to shelter homeless people in hotels" In other words, yes, but actually no. They have 6 locations and are providing food, shelter and 24-hour security for 300+ people. It is cheaper than existing programs. The funding also paid for new water and electric hookups on the sites, an investment that will not cost annually and could allow these sites to be far cheaper in the coming years.

Social security follows COLA and increased automatically.

Did Trump embezzle millions by housing the secret service at his resorts and charging them extortionate fees to do so, especially during a pandemic when his businesses would otherwise be suffering? How about all those family members he hired and paid? Did they not take salaries? The president getting a salary is normal, and is the least of your worries when it comes to what presidents can now get away with charging the taxpayers.

@johngault4820 They need 60 votes to pass the senate. Without 60 voted they had to go through reconciliation, a process that usually takes almost an entire year. In that time it has to be debated by multiple committees in the house, passing all of them with a vote, before being voted on again in the house. Even after that the senate has to debate the issue, which included making changes so that all the Democrats would fall in line against the 50 Republicans that all decided to block stimulus money. If Republicans had just been open to the idea of giving stimulus to the people then this would have gone a whole lot quicker.

Sounds like a good idea considering all the taxes being paid have already been paid, and anyone owing taxes didn't pay their fair share last year. So covering people just before tax season sounds like a great idea.

@Yard Sale Dale It's a mask. I don't know where you're getting these smart masks, but my cloth one works perfectly fine.

@Yard Sale Dale It's called a virus. Millions have died. You're an idiot.

@SuperCoopdogg 9% was the previous omnibus bill, that included $600 checks and a variety of other issues that needed passed. 22% is the number for this bill, but that only applies to the stimulus checks. Unemployment, vaccine distribution, SNAP benefits, mortgage assistance, rental assistance and a whole host of other programs are all on top of that 22%. Almost the entire bill is related to covid relief in some way, with many of the minute issues that Republicans were using as talking points being taken out before it passed.

Could you be more specific? Define "to do with covid". Do stimulus checks, unemployment benefits, SNAP benefits and vaccine distributions have anything to do with covid? Where is your line in the sand?

@russellschuler6608 The bridge is already built.

@russellschuler6608 20% alone is for stimulus checks so we already know whoever told you that is lying.
