Using federal funds to fix roads is the exact opposite of toll roads. Toll roads are used when they can't get federal funding and need to fund it themselves.

@albinoman13bt Because the 10 largest cities contain less than 10% the total US population, and probably swing far more heavily for 1 candidate than the other. If you keep the electoral college why would anyone ever campaign in a non-swing state? In a popular vote system all the votes count, including Republicans in New York and California, and Democrats in Texas and Alabama. The current system makes it so that the majority of the country has no vote at all.

If you look at the percentages within those areas you quickly realise that public opinion is not that far different in most areas. You just don't seem to like counting votes of people in a minority in certain areas. We also have a house of representatives and a senate to represent both proportionally and disproportionately. The entire current system is built on the backs of people scared they would lose an election, so make the rules beneficial to them. "What gives city people the right to dictate how rural people live? None. So weight has to be given to their vote to prevent them from becoming another silenced minority group." Considering that's already happening in the current system, and vice versa, that's not the best argument. People in eastern CA and upper NY never have their votes counted. Why are you so against people voting?

@luluhaha9741 Seems like an odd question. Why does it matter if they are law abiding or not? Does all crime deserve execution? Should someone get shot for theft? How about a DUI? Where do you draw the line on what is an acceptable way to kill someone and what is not?

samford hikes 1. Even people in DC at the time of it's designation in 1801 protested against having their voting rights taken away. Telling people they need to move just to have the same rights as everyone else is obviously pretty ridiculous. 2. Maryland doesn't want them, and they don't want Maryland. Both sides would need to agree, and neither wants it to happen.

@frankmanning3815 Maryland has a Republican governor for starters, I'm sure he doesn't want to lost his majority. Also, after over 220 years of being separate, the residents of DC are owed their own state. They have more than enough people, and don't want their voices drowned out by some other state.

@MissTEO1 There is a single DC house rep, and they can't vote. As for your other argument, people have cared about DC becoming a state since its inceptions. There were protest in 1801 about the removal of voting rights of the people there, and further movements have been happening ever since. The main reason people are bringing it up as of 5 years ago is because DC voted with an 85% majority to become a state. Your assumption that this is a partisan political ploy and nothing to do with voting rights 1. doesn't matter because it doesn't change that this is the will of the people of DC and 2. is incorrect anyway.

@WatThaDeuce Your argument was that DC residents were formerly part of Maryland. As stated, this was over 220 years ago, and since then DC residents have formed their own identity and their own politics. You may as well say we should combine the Dakotas or Oklahoma and Utah should become part of California and Texas. It's nonsense. Maryland also has a Republican governor, who I'm sure would not be too happy about a huge surge in registered Democrats joining the state.

@frankmanning3815 Why are they owed voting representation? Hang on, let me go back to the colonies and ask some of them what they think. They're also only changing the size of the controlled area and making a state out of the dead space, no constitutional change is required.

@frankmanning3815 No you wouldn't. The bill that passed is changing the size of the district. The 23rd amendment gives the area electors. As the area is now smaller it still gets electors, and the new state also gets electors.

Stating that states have more rights than individuals just sounds like an excuse to ignore the will of the people.

@luluhaha9741 Fine. Breonna Taylor was shot through a glass door with the blinds drawn by plain clothes officers on an unannounced no knock raid. They were aiming for her boyfriend. She woke up, broke no laws, and was shot multiple times by officers breaking multiple protocols.

@luluhaha9741 Hard to tell. With cops in the US doing everything in their power to cover up the people they wrongfully kill it's hard to count. The real issue is that they shouldn't be killing most people they do. Again, petty theft is not a death sentence, yet there are people killed this year from stealing a drone from a store, or worse, thrown on their face and suffocating to death during a mental health episode. Telling me to count the number of wrongful deaths by police hands when there are hundreds of deaths by police this year is a waste of my time, when we all know it shouldn't be happening at all.

They ended up funding it with tens of billions through the March stimulus bill, as well as doubling the number of vaccines ordered from manufacturers, and making deals with multiple organisations to help distribute vaccines.

Crossings dropped during covid, and are now increasing again, compounded by the break from increased immigration numbers from before covid started. 2019 for example doubled the total number of migrants crossing illegally. Covid has also caused economic problems, leading to more migrants. Blaming this on Biden is childish. How have we lost energy independence? Do you mean Keystone XL? Inflation is normal. His plan is to pay for the infrastructure plan through taxation. Taxes don't cause inflationary increases, printing money does. They refreshed troops that were already stationed in Syria. They did not increase the total number of troops there. Any proof of escalating crime. The best I have is a personal belief from individuals that crime is getting worse, without any actual stats to back it up. Especially since the FBI has not released numbers for 2021. As for divisiveness, what do you expect after 4 years of rising white nationalism?

How dare they follow CDC guidelines. Being vaccinated does not make it impossible to pass on the virus, it just makes it do you won't die or get serious symptoms. It's also not 100% effective, coming in at around the 94% mark for efficacy. Continuing to wear masks after being vaccinated is a recommendation and a best practice.

Well that depends. Was Trump at this point in the hypothetical scenario actually trying to get people to take the vaccine, or was he actively pushing against treatment claiming the virus is basically the flu and young people should be fine?

@luntershaptopfukinov6413 Not that Obama had a choice. He took office when unemployment was rising and the deficit was in the toilet. He managed to half unemployment and massively reduce the deficit, leaving the country in an okay state. Trump on the other hand wracked up a $4.2 trillion debt increase last year, higher than any 2 years under Obama combined. Obama did a much better job of handling a crisis.

@aztecadog 17 separate US agencies looked into the 2016 election and found Russian interference. Trump decided to have a meeting with Putin, accept his answer that he didn't do it, and fob off his own agencies in the process. It was an embarrassment at the time, and continues to be one now.

They were working off evidence of Iraq purchasing high levels of aluminium tubing along with flaws in their analysis. They have since learned from this mistake. They aren't mute on the origins of the virus, there is just no way to know without China granting access. Bin Laden wasn't in plain sight, he was in Pakistan, which the US has limited ability to operate in. Oh, and they found him. I mean seriously, are these really your worst examples?

@tonyu5985 The CIA, NSA and FBI releases a joint report stating that there was Russian interference, and the complete link of collusion was found just recently with Manafort. Meanwhile Trump was on stage stating that he believed Putin and Russia over his own intelligence agencies. They also have dozens of links between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

As for prices being passed down, were prices on products reduced when Trump reduced corporate taxes? Do huge corporations even pay corporate taxes? Do you even know how corporate taxes work?

The inflation we have seen has been lower than wage increased, and inflation matches with wage increases is good for anyone with debt, which is most people. The only person wrong here is you. @poorplayz5625 1. Biden has very little control over global oil prices. 2. gas prices were higher less than a decade ago, and have been higher many times in the last 20 years. 3. They are releasing oil from multiple reserves worldwide in a coordinated effort to reduce prices. 4. The Biden administration has launched an investigation into gas prices to see why they are not dropping with oil prices, as there is no reason for this to be the case, meaning prices may drop directly from an investigation into their current levels. 5. The US exports a lot of refined fuel, meaning we actually see a large influx of cash from price increases like this.

@poorplayz5625 They didn't close a pipeline, they hadn't even started building it and that has nothing to do with global oil prices. The pipeline is also for importing oil, just like the pipeline that's already there. We were exporting oil when prices went negative and nobody wanted it. Fixing failed Republican economies is a Democratic president thing. Obama fixed the economy after the financial crisis, and Trump immediately jumped in and doubled the deficit before the pandemic even started. Go figure. I didn't say nothing can effect prices. The decision to release oil will lower global oil prices. I already said that. The idea you have that any other policies have effected global oil prices is a joke.

Pumping money into an economy to artificially raise it from the top down is not a good economy, and doubling the deficit only made the economic fallout of the pandemic worse. Trump spent like mad and ended up causing a catastrophic impact when the black swan event hit. We were nearly independent because usage dropped due to the pandemic. It's all well and good being independent, but when it relies on everyone working from home and travelling less it's not going to last when everyone starts using more fuel.

Biden has attacked China on both their attacks on Hong Kong and the Uighur concentration camps, 2 things Trump never did. He also imposed sanctions on Chinese government officials. Trump's entire stance on being "tough" on China was to call them cheaters and charge American businesses for buying Chinese products. While this can be effective, you would be much better off attacking Chinese officials and businesses rather than American ones.
