@Merrymaid Well sure, because he is 1. not praying, he is declaring a day of prayer and 2. not everyone believes in Jesus. Why would he alienate those of other faiths on a day designed to bring us together as a country?

@Merrymaid He didn't leave his name out of prayer because he wasn't praying. It also only says it on the money because we added it, same for the pledge. It actually goes very much against the founding fathers.

@smile2lifesmile2love21 Unless of course you don't believe in Christ. Joe wasn't even praying, he was announcing a day of prayer. Why find a reason for people to be divided, like picking one religion over another, on a day dedicated to brining us together?

@smile2lifesmile2love21 He didn't call anything "the thing" because at no point in his address did he say anything about what people should pray for or who they should pray to. His whole statement was on the importance of the day itself, how prayer has helped many and can help the nation. He even specified people praying in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, going on to say he is joining all people in faith in prayers for spiritual guidance, mercy and protection.
