@sonnylambert4893 He's not missing anything. Trump is paying a penalty, not a fine or bail.

But it's not bail or a fine, it's a repayment of fraudulently obtained funds.
6
@cncsphere Because he announced he wants to be a dictator.
3
@xlr8r2010 Because the banks didn't do their own appraisal. Trump had a third party appraise his properties then lied about their evaluation.
2
@OfficiallZenFN Still the bank. The interest rate they gave Trump was lower than usual due to the appraised wealth.
2
Sounds exactly like something dictator Trump would do.
1
You're confusing bail with Trump's requirement to repay his fraudulently obtained assets.
1
No, but they must remain in prison while appealing, in the same way the cash stays in state custody until the appeal is finished.

@robertfontanelli7662 Try tens of millions.
1
@cncsphere The bank did not use their own appraisal. They used a third party, and Trump lied about their evaluation.

@cncsphere Trump said he wanted to be a dictator on day one in office. He announced it on his Fox News town hall. He then reiterated his comments at the NYYRC 11th Annual Gala. His position is very clear on this.

@dvkaw7780 Yep. They are a trusted appraiser, and the exact laws that were used to justify the civil case against Trump are what protect the banks.
1
@shirleymckamey2426 Dictator is a dictator Shirley. Maybe he was just confused.
1
@brandwessels8582 Funny thing about dictatorial power, it always starts with a single day.
1
I'm sure that's why they won't step in, and not because entertaining the delusions of fraudsters is not their end goal.
1
@johnd2895 You seem deeply confused about what this trial was about. The interest Trump was given for his loan specifically because his collateral assets were so large were substantially lower than they otherwise would have been. Trump lied about the size of his wealth to get special rates.
1
@johnd2895 Nope. He owes a lot of interest.

You get that the people are the ones spending the money to keep those businesses running right? New businesses will take their place and do just fine.
