"with a democratic and representative voting system" That's just a representative democracy.

@Darqshadow Cool. Still a form of democracy.
1
@Darqshadow Maybe look up representative democracy there chief. Might also want to check that definition "directly or indirectly "
1
And a democracy. They didn't want that but it happened eventually.
1
You're just describing a constitutional democracy.
1
@robthompson8285 John Adams also banned voting for all women, all people who don't own land and all non-whites. The fact that that is no longer the case is why we are a democracy.
1
The irony of a bunch of rich white slave owners writing about freedom from tyranny, only to make a new nation where only they and their rich friends get to vote.
1
And a representative democracy.

None of those words mean what you think they do. The President is not a monarch. Republicanism literally came about as anti-monarchy and depublican still means anti-monarchy to this day. Republics do not require democracy. In fact a system where people are chosen at random like the Hunger Games but when they get chosen they become Congressional Representatives would still be a Republic as it is run by the people, but it would not be a democracy.

@dylanhunt3855 Nope. Monarchs are not just "the person in charge", they are hereditary owners of a title that gives them near absolute power for life. Monarchs are not subject laws, taxes or anything like that as they are above all else. Presidents have limited terms, can only use their power in specific and limited ways, and can even be overruled. They can be removed from office by both other parts of government and by the people. It's just not the same.
1
@dylanhunt3855 Nah. Sorry your Ancient Greek definition of a monarch is severely outdated.
1
@dylanhunt3855 Because it's significantly different now to how it was then. You're trying to fit a skyscraper in wood hut. It ain't gonna fit.
1
@dylanhunt3855 So you're just going to stick a square peg in a round hole and leave because replying is too tough for you. Let me know when you learn what a constitution is.
1
They don't need to redefine anything, they already changed the constitution. We are a representative democratic republic.
1
You do understand that nothing about being a republic requires us to have state representatives right?
1
The founders rejected democracy, but that didn't stop us from changing the constitution to expand voting rights, making us a democracy in the process. Democracies do not inherently give or take away any rights, neither do republics. You are confusing "constitutional" with "republic".
