  1. Not if you pay attention. The US deficit ballooned under Trump, especially with his tax cuts. In fact 57% of the growth in federal deficits in the 20th century can be attributed to tax cuts under Bush and Trump. Meanwhile Biden signed the CHIPS act to bring tech jobs into the US. Offshoring under Trump however accelerated. He doubled the jobs going overseas per year compared to Obama.

  2. Because it reduces the extremism in the region, leading to less potential attacks against the US. It's a very cheap soft power. The real question is why is more than half of new US debt in the last 25 years from tax cuts?
