@CHIPPY CHOPPY That's simply not true for multiple reasons. Animal models usually take years because they are testing on so few of them at a time. The animals are not kept alive after they are tested on, so there is no long term data to gather there. If you were to test on 10 times as many animals at a time then you can cut you research time down dramatically to meet the FDA minimum requirements. This is even more true in the cellular phase where the cells tested in don't last the day. They are tested on and the results are recorded, then they are disposed of. They were also allowed to run animal and cellular trials at the same time. The only long term data in question is human trials. Now before you said there are 3 FDA phases, which I assume you are referring to the clinical trial phases, which is absolutely true for these accellerated shots, but usually there are 4. This combining of the phases saved on time as well. Standard drugs also usually go through another segment of clinical trials where the drugs are tested on sick patients. This is obviously not necessary with a covid vax. Finally, clinical trials began over 18 months ago for Pfizer-BioNTech's drug; Comirnaty. Sounds pretty long term to me.

Nobody tests side effects for anywhere near that long.

Efficacy is people with no chance of catching covid at all. People with the vax will also have a dramatic drop in the severity of the virus if they are infected.
