So the removal of guaranteed human rights, the stupification of the masses, and you'll be fine because at least you get to shoot people who knock on your door.
1
@joshuaoverlord5327 Exactly. The only thing that stops children getting shot is turning schools into literal prisons.
1
Yes, as in stop known criminals from buying guns.
1
@emort6 Guns are not a human right. We already take away people's vehicles when they are accused of driving related crimes.
1
@emort6 The point was property, which you do have a right to, but can be removed. Self defence, yes. Vigilante justice, no. That's why most developed nations require self defence be reasonable or proportional.
1
@emort6 So you're part of a well-regulated militia?
1
@emort6 So you submit to the command of the state when called upon?
1
@emort6 Too many rights? The US still has slavery, doesn't guarantee housing, and has an exceptionally high incarceration rate. For such a free country there sure are some glaring issues. But sure, let's whine about a made up right.
1
@emort6 The point is that a well regulated militia is subject to state control (that being each individual state in the union, not the federal government). And no, you have not been called in this way, nobody has in well over a century. The national guard completely negates the rabble of idiots with firearms. Your claim that the 2nd has anything to do with self defense is nonsensical.
1
@Test-fl8bi I'm not sure we can have a well regulated militia without checking their mental capacity.

@dsldarklordspaniard6672 90% of guns used in crimes are from private sales and straw purchases. Registration would stop both.
1
@dsldarklordspaniard6672 Yeah, nothing you just said is correct. Private sales when one of the people is a felon is illegal, so no, in this case that's not any different. Private handgun sales are not treated differently from any other gun almost everywhere. Most guns used in crimes are not stolen, this is a myth pushed by the NRA. They are purchased seemingly legally. The real issue is that these straw purchases and illegal private sales are impossible to track until after the gun is already used, but requiring registration would heavily monitor the former and stamp out the latter. Pistols do not require registration in most states. Registrations means that private sales can be tracked and people who engaged in an illegal private sale can be prosecuted. It also makes tracking down straw purchases substantially easier. Overall, registration would dramatically increase the risk to criminals, while allowing legal owners to keep their guns, despite your fear mongering. In your final example that stolen gun could be returned to the rightful owner it is registered to.

Nazis actually loosened gun restrictions. The US took away all the guns in Germany.
1
@louisbecker5941 Again, he still loosened restrictions. Your quote doesn't change that.
1
@louisbecker5941 The Nazis banned ALL clubs that weren't officially sanctioned. The fact that gun licenses existed at all was because the Nazis reduced gun restrictions. Before then they were outright banned. Removing people from society has nothing to do with gun control.
1
@louisbecker5941 Compared to what existed before? Not really no. If a bunch of authoritarian populists hadn't persecuted people we wouldn't be in this mess. Whining about gun control in 1938, after a crap load of other measures up to that point, is just stupid. Especially when, as explained, the Nazis loosened restrictions.

johnobama6629 Look it up yourself. "German Firearms legislation under Hitler, far from banning private ownership, actually facilitated the keeping and bearing of arms by German citizens by eliminating or ameliorating restrictive laws which had been enacted by the government preceding his"

johnobama6629 Source?
1
johnobama6629 That's not how you give somebody a source. Try again.
1
johnobama6629 Man who doesn't know how grammar works tries to make an argument about education. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

johnobama6629 If this is what constitutes trolling these days I'm embarrassed for you.
