  2. As boy in Gateshead in the late 1960s early 70s, mysef and my mates all carried Pen knives. Even tho we got into arguments and occasional scraps, it never entererd our heads to use our pen knives on each other. We all know what has changed in the last 55 years. I fear for my grandchildren.

  23. People litterally stopped having familys in 1970. I was born in 1960 on Tyneside into a large family. I saw with my own eyes the decline in family sizes. Many schools closed over the next decades because the children were not there. Of course mass third world immigration soon filled the schools up.

  36. My Grandfather who was in the British army during WW2. He was in Hamburg when Germany surrendered. He soon realised we had made a massive mistake fighting Germany. On returning to Tyneside in October 1945, and seeing children still in their bare feet, he binned his medals.
