In 1919 there were Racial clashes beetween White seamen and Foreign Seamen, who were mostley Lascars (indian seaman) Yemeni Seamen and a few West indian seamen in South Sheilds, Northeast England. Our Seamen had returned from the War to see that they had lost their jobs to these foreign seaman, who were doing the jobs for a lesser rate. Then there were "incidents" between these foreign seamen and White Women, and that caused the backlash.

  2. My grandfather was a supporter. He saw him speak in Gateshead in 1936. My Father saw him speak at Trafalgar Square in 1960.
