  8. This series is absolutely brilliant. Best iv saw in all my life. The magnitude and length of this battle is hard to grasp. The ferocity of the fighting is unimaginable. It must have been sheer hell on earth for all involved. How the Germans resisted for so long when starving and in freezing temperatures is a testimony to their fighting ability and discipline. I doubt as long as mankind lives on this planet there will ever be a battle of this magnitude again. Great video Tik. You should release this on DVD. How this has not made the history channel i do not know.

  11. Absolutely brilliant video. I've learned a lot about this era. My Grandparents visited Germany in Summer of 1938 as part of a Hiking club. They were astounded how well working class people were living in Germany at that time.

  40. TIK I must say this has been a fantastic series. Well done! I've had an interest in WW2 since I was a boy. First read of this battle in a Battered old book my Father was given in 1974. Anyways I always believed no German soldiers managed to get out of the pocket and back to their lines after the surrender. But recently I watched a video by some Spanish fellow, and he made the claim that one German officer made it thru the Russian lines and back to German lines 4 weeks after the Surrender of Stalingrad? Have you heard of this TIK?

  49. Correct. My Grandfather was in the British Army 1939-1945. He spoke fluent German, and was in the Army of Occupation in Skelsweg-Holstein from May 1945. He says the German Soldiers were very disciplined. Even in defeat. They organised themselves in the POW camps. My grandfather admired them.
